Omar Claxton, age 88, of Norman, passed away May 8, 2021. He was born September 8, 1932, in Oklahoma City, to the late Joe and Pauline Claxton. In 1950, he graduated from Capitol Hill High School and later attended UCO (formerly Central State College.
Omar served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer on a B25. His career was as a machinist/tool and die maker. Over the years, he worked at Tinker AFB, Shinn Engineering, FAA, J&E Supply, AH Metal Fabricators, and was President of AB Fasteners. He returned to the FAA Logistics Center and retired in 2001, after 30 years of service. Throughout his career, Omar almost always had a second job at various machine shops in Oklahoma City.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Oklahoma City Thunder, enjoyed fishing and boating, and loved the time spent visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Linda Claxton; daughters, Debbie Dobbs and husband Joe of Pagosa, CO, Lorna Riddle and husband David of Katy, TX, Lynda Moody of Katy, TX; step-children, Michelle Beam and husband Don of Blanchard, Eric Frikken and wife Jennifer of Norman, and Randy Adams and wife Linda of New Waverly, TX; sister, Betty Jaques; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Omar was preceded in death by his three brothers, Tom, Denver and Edward Claxton; granddaughter, Mandy Moody; and step-daughter, Johna Edge.
