Jackie Carol “Jack” Ferrell, 77, of Moore passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born January 17, 1938, in Arbyrd, Missouri, to Jesse J. and Wilma Ester (Carroll) Ferrell.
Jack married Sandra Matricia Smith May 9, 1967, in Reno, Nevada. A member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City, he loved God, his family and the St. Louis Cardinals. Always willing to help others, Jack had a special ministry for the last few years of his life because he was not able to get out much. He would pray for anyone who needed prayer and send encouraging notes and Scripture passages in the mail.
During baseball season Jack always had a Cardinals game on. He served his country in the Navy and later worked at the VA Hospital. He loved his beagle Buster who died in September of 2014.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sandra M. Ferrell of the home; son, John A. Ferrell of Edmond; daughter, Cheryl A. Ferrell of Moore; stepdaughter, Karen Murphy of Fresno, California; stepson, Justin Misner of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepson, Jeffery Misner of Redding, California; sister, Ruth Koonce of Omro, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Wilma and his brother, Leroy Gail Ferrell.
Memorial services for Jack will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel in Moore. Arrangements are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, Okla.
